Bend-LaPine Schools Operating Levy Outside Tax Base — "A" Ballot QUESTION: Shall the schools levy$4,974,273 for a portion of the operating budget which is eligible for partial state financing? EXPLANATION: This ballot includes a portion of the funds necessary to operate 1983-84 educational programs and supporting services of the schools. If this mea- sure is approved,the entire ballot amount of$4,974,273 levied for the 1 983-84 fiscal year is eligible for partial state funding which, together with the tax base levy, will result in an estimated tax rate of$9.72 per$1,000 of assessed valuation, exclusive of "B" ballot levies and levy for bonded debt retirement. Voters must approve an ''A" ballot measure before the approval of a "B'' ballot measure is valid. [ O.R.S. 310.395 (4) (a) ]. 7 YES 8 NO W* 2. Bend-LaPine Schools Operating Levy Outside Tax Base — Ballot "B-1" QUESTION: Shall the schools levy$1,447,256 for a portion of the operating budget which is ineligible for partial state financing? EXPLANATION: The purpose of this ballot is to fund the continuation of the follow- ing programs, items and positions through the end of the 1983-84 school year: Pupil Transportation — all home-to-school and inter-school transportation of students. Activities & Athletics — all athletics programs and co-curricular activities such as band, orchestra, choir, speech, drama, yearbook, journalism, Future Busi- ness Leaders of America, and others. A-V Equipment — part of the audio-visual equipment purchases for the schools. Safety Repairs/Replacements—repairs and replacement of some unsafe equip- ment and furnishings. If this measure is approved, $1,447,256 levied for the 1983-84 school year will be totally financed by local taxpayers without partial state payment. A levy from this measure will create an estimated tax rate of$.91 per$1,000 of assessed valuation. Bend-LaPine Schools Operating Levy Outside Tax Base — Ballot "B-2" QUESTION: Shall the schools levy$241,765 for a portion of the operating budget which is ineligible for partial state financing? EXPLANATION: This ballot is to fund the following programs through the 1983-84 school year: School Curriculum Chairman/Leaders—organizing classroom instruction within subject areas and by grade levels. Computer Education — part of the equipment and materials for classroom instruction. Continuing Education — specific workshops to improve effectiveness of instruction. Special Programs —High Desert Museum,outdoor education and water survival programs. Personnel Evaluation — part of the staff evaluation program. Data Processing — payment on equipment. Contingency — reserve for emergencies. Special Education —part of the instructional program for handicapped students. If this measure is approved, $241,765 levied for the 1983-84 school year will be totally financed by local taxpayers without partial state payment.
