1978-09-19 - Ballots i SPECIAL DISTRICT ELECTION BALLOT DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON CARD NO. Tuesday, September 19, 1978 ADMINISTRATIVE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. I PROPOSED BY RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TAX LEVY OUTSIDE THE CONSTITUTIONAL LIMITATION I. Shall the Board of Directors of Administrative School District No. I, Deschutes County, be authorized to levy for the fiscal year 1978-79 the sum of $1,432,707 outside the limitation set forth in Section 11, Article X1 of the Oregon Constitution? ®005-1118- EXPLANATION OF THE BALLOT QUESTION The District will receive $1,202,598 in state aid offset this year as the result of a new Oregon law. The county assessor will subtract this amount from the levy, which will then be $70,473 more than last year's levy. Without voter approval, the school board may levy only the district's tax base, which was authorized by the voters in November 1976, plus subsequent annexations and a six percent allowable increase. This amount, $7,855,778, combined with other revenues such as interest, federal forest fees, and state basic school support, is insufficient to meet the proposed educational needs of the children of the district. If this measure is approved, the tax levy to finance the operating bud- get (not including the $1,202,598 offset) for the tax year 1978-79 will be $1,273,071 greater than the tax levy to finance the operating bud- get for the preceding year. 18 YES 19 NO 2 SPECIAL DISTRICT ELECTION BALLOT DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON CARD NO.
