Shall the Board of Directors of School District No. 1, Deschutes County, be authorized to levy for the fiscal year 1975-1976 the sum of $6,548,253.89 outside the limitation set forth in Section II, Article XI of the Oregon Constitution? EXPLANATION OF THE BALLOT QUESTION Without the approval of the voters the school board has authority to levy only the tax base of the district, which is $861,375.27. This sum together with available non-tax revenue, is insufficient to provide an education program adequate to meet the needs of the children of the district. If this measure is approved, the operating budget to be financed by local taxes for the year 1975-1976 will be $1,091,525.62 greater than the operating budget financed by local taxes for the preceding year.
