Our son is a recent graduate of Bend High and our daugh-
ter is currently a senior, and we know the importance of pro-
viding a clean and safe environment for our students. Over-
crowded and decaying schools do not provide the educational
facilities needed to provide the quality education our children
need and deserve. Overcrowded schools can result in in-
creased student dropout rates, bullying,and other anti-social
behavior. Run-down and decaying schools may create an "I
don't care"attitude on the part of our students.Either situation
is an unhealthy learning environment.
The children of this community are our heritage.We owe
them an honest opportunity to excel in all their endeavors.
Whether it is math or English,soccer or baseball,giving them
an honest chance to learn and grow in a healthy school is the
highest of our obligations as citizens and parents.
