Terrebonne Domestic Water District Recall 2014-R-9-7 Question: Do you vote to recall Lavetta K Walters from the office of Terrebonne Domestic Water District Director Position 3? Reasons for demanding the recall as filed in the petition: We are demanding a recall due to the Terrebonne Domestic Water Board of Directors poor business practices, and a lack of management and oversight of District Resources and Personnel. The Boards negligence has resulted in water use accounting errors. Community members received unusually high August 2013 water bills as a result. The Board has acknowledged an error yet has no explanation for what occurred and continues to demand payment. This has created extreme financial hardship for many residents of the Terrebonne Community who received bills exceeding 900% of their typical monthly usage. The current Board of Director's has proven they are inept and do not have the ability to fiscally manage the organization nor are they acting in the best interest of the Community. Statement of Justification as submitted by Lavetta Kay Walters: As long as I have been a Director on the board for the Terrebonne Domestic Water District I have worked hard to keep the cost of water rates down while being fiscally responsible to our customers and to the Water District. I have been accused, by the chief petitioner of this recall, with statements that I can prove are false and borderline fraudulent. FALSE Statements used in this recall petition are: • Water Customers received bills exceeding "900%" of their typical monthly usage. • Board lacked poor business practices and management of District resources. • Board was negligent, resulting in water use accounting. • Board gave No explanation in response to high water bills in August 2013,while continuing to "demand" payment. All of these statements can be proven as FALSE and uses FRAUDULENT information. This recall (generated by 15% of Water District customers registered to vote)will be at the cost of the Water District...ALL OF US. I have worked hard and diligently for you, our customers. As a community member of 49 years my other community involvements have been: • Lowering the Speed limit on Hwy. 97 and 19th Street • Sustaining Terrebonne as a Community NOT an Incorporated town with more taxation. Yes I vote for the recall No I vote against the recall Vote Both Sides of Ballot WARNING Any person who, by use of force or other means, unduly influences an elector to vote in any particular manner or to refrain from voting is subject to a fine. Statement of Justification as submitted by Sharon Fay Struck: I understand the recall effort by my community has resulted in sufficient number of signatures to recall me as a board member. I fully understand community members' frustration with the Water District concerning August 2013 high water bills and have worked hard to help develop a workable solution for members and be available to listen to all concerns since it happened. I have served many years on the board and have always supported my community with honesty and integrity as a board member. Terrebonne has been my home for over thirty years and having raised my family here I feel like I can be a part of the solution and do not feel I am a part of the current problem. Thank you for your consideration.
