BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON
A Resolution Re-Affirming Oath of Office and
Confirming Governing Body Practice regarding * RESOLUTION NO. 2015-023
Proposed State Legislation
WHEREAS, Deschutes County is organized as a representative form of government, by which the
citizens of the county elect three Commissioners to represent them and to serve as the Governing Body of
Deschutes County; and
WHEREAS, upon taking Office, each Commissioner swears to uphold the following Oath of Office: "1,
(Name), having been duly elected to the office of County Commissioner, Position (#), Deschutes County, do
solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America, the Constitution of the State
of Oregon, and the laws thereof I will faithfully and honorably perform the duties of Deschutes County
Commissioner to the best of my ability. "; and
WHEREAS, Commissioners Tammy Baney, Alan Unger and Anthony DeBone, upon signing this
Resolution do re-affirm their Oath of Office; and
WHEREAS, Commissioners Tammy Baney,Alan Unger and Anthony DeBone acknowledge receipt of
numerous requests from individuals asking the Commissioners to re-affirm their support of the 2nd Amendment
of the Constitution of the United States; and
WH EREA S, Commissioners Tammy Baney, Alan Unger and Anthony DeBone are unwilling to single
out any one section,Amendment or provision of the Constitution based on their concern that doing so will
create the perception that one Amendment is more important than any other or the Constitution as a whole; and
WHEREAS, should the Legislature propose legislation that unlawfully infringes upon the rights of the
citizens of Deschutes County, Commissioners Tammy Baney, Alan Unger and Anthony DeBone will direct
prompt and forceful communication of opposition thereto,now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES
COUNTY,OREGON, as follows:
Section 1. Oath. Commissioners Tammy Baney, Alan Unger and Anthony DeBone re-affirm their Oath
of Office as set forth above.
Section 2. Legislation. Upon direction from the Commissioners, Deschutes County will continue to
take and communicate positions against pending legislation that infringes upon the rights of citizens of
Deschutes County.

Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective upon adoption.
