Deschutes County Board of Commissioners and
Deschutes County Juvenile Community Corrections Department
The Department update was held August 6, 2015, at 1:30 PM, at Juvenile.
Commissioners Anthony DeBone, Alan Unger and Tammy Baney, along with County
Administrator Tom Anderson and Deputy County Administrator Erik Kropp, met with Ken Hales,
Sonya Littledeer-Evans, Deevy Holcomb, Tammy Skovborg, Mary Fleischmann and Ken Mathers.
Summary of meeting
The Juvenile Division provided a brief history of items covered previously with the BOCC, shared
key aspects of a recent division reorganization towards evidence-based practices, and discussed
crucial issues, concerns and business trends we expect to impact business in the next year.
CJO Tammy Skovborg demonstrated a key aspect of division reorganization —the intake and
assessment process now being followed with all new referrals. Commissioner Baney and
Administrator Anderson role-played a youth who had been referred to the department, and her
father.
The PowerPoint shown for the presentation is attached.
No formal decisions were made, and the meeting adjourned at approximately 2:30 PM.
