2015-439-Minutes for Meeting September 01,2015 Recorded 10/2/2015 DESCHUTES COUNTY OFFICIAL RECORDS i'1 7015439 NANCY BLANKENSHIP, COUNTY CLERK Y Y Y COMMISSIONERS' JOURNAL 10/02/2015 09:46:06 AM II 11- 3 IIIIIIIIIIIIII ulu 2 Board of County Commissioners Department Update Meeting: Justice Court September 1, 2015 Mlen Room,Deschutes Services Building,2:30 p.m. Attendees: Commissioners Anthony DeBone, Tammy Baney and Alan Unger, Justice of the Peace Charles Fadeley, County Administrator Tom Anderson, and Deputy County Administrator Erik Kropp. Judge Charles Fadeley handed out a report detailing the revenue and case filings for the Justice Court for the following fiscal years: 12-13, 13-14, and 14-15. In response to a question from Commissioner DeBone, Judge Fadeley responded that he holds Justice Court in La Pine the first Wednesday of each month. Judge Fadeley noted that the number of small claims cases has leveled off after a steady Y Y increase over the past several years. He noted that the increased filing fees related to small claims approved by the state legislature will increase revenue approximately $30,000 this year. Judge Fadeley noted that expenditures for software licensing will be less than previous years due to a change in the software package used by the Justice Court. He stated that Deb Walker and Joe Sadony from the Information Technology Department have been very helpful in the software conversion. Commissioner Baney asked about future trends for Justice Court. Judge Fadeley responded that he expects the City of Redmond to continue to increase the number of tickets referred to Justice Court and for the Sheriffs Office to stay the same. He also is projecting a continued increase in small claims filings.
