October 29, 2015
Human Resources Conference Room, 11 a.m.
Attendance: Tammy Baney, Tony DeBone, Alan Under, Erik Kropp, Tom Anderson, Sue
Henderson , Karen Olsen, Danielle Fegley, Jennifer Clemens
New Employee Orientation: Danielle spoke to HR's project involving updating new employee
orientation. One such update will be a Jeopardy-style game with categories in policies,
acronyms, and benefits. New employees will play Jeopardy and be eligible to win employee
recognition points. As a demonstration of the new game, BOCC played a rousing round of
Jeopardy. The winner was Alan, although all did a superb job!
The group reviewed the contents of the Human Resources intranet pages.
Jennifer Clemens spoke about updates/changes in the Recruitment area of HR.
Tammy asked about challenges experienced by HR staff:
• Recruitment--With changes in law effective 1/1/16 regarding convictions, employment
applications will need to be updated.
• Veteran's Preference
• ACA Reporting
Tammy asked what HR looking forward to in the future:
• The unanimous answer was a new Enterprise Resource Planning system. The current
"HTE" system is antiquated and does not suit the county's current needs.
The Board thanked HR for their service and being the "Engine that runs the vehicle!'
Tammy asked about an outlet for employees to air HR-related issues. HR staff felt that
employees are aware that they can contact HR for confidential consultation if they have any
type of concern regarding their work environment.
Danielle stated HR is starting to analyze data provided on the Separation Questionnaire
completed by employees who resign. In the past, only specific issues were flagged and brought
to management's attention. The goal of the analysis is to identify any areas of concern or
where improvements may be needed.
