Also present were Tom Anderson, County Administrator; Erik Kropp, Deputy County Administrator; Dave Doyle, County Counsel; Whitney Malkin, Communications; and Nick Lelack, Community Development. No representatives of the media or other citizens were in attendance. Chair Unger opened the meeting at 10:30 a.m. 1 The reason for the meeting was to consider rescheduling the Commissioners' site g g visit to the Lower Bridge property that had been planned for 11:00 a.m. today, but was canceled due to concerns about the weather and the ability to properly examine the site. Mr. Lelack stated that the hearing was left open until January 29 to allow for the Commissioners to visit the site and put their observations into the record. Any comments need to be submitted before that date. The Commissioners determined that the weather wasn't suitable for a site visit today. If a Commissioner wishes to exercise the option of a site visit, it would be as an individual. Because of varying schedules for the next two weeks, it would be very difficult for the Commissioners to meet as a Board. Minutes of Board of Commissioners' Work Session Friday,January 15,2016 Page 1 of 2 Commissioner Baney noted that there was a white-out blizzard occurring in that area last night. In any case, at this time it would be hard to discern any vegetation or aggregate. They could potentially see the rim but the slope areas and any details may not be visible. It would be hard to determine topography or the characteristics of the ground. Therefore, the joint site visit was canceled; and if a Commissioner wishes to visit the site, this can be arranged with staff if desired, as schedules allow. Commissioner DeBone noted that he would like to get a feel for the east and west sides, and see where most of the work historically took place. Mr. Lelack will arrange for staff to accompany each Commissioner if and when requested, and their comments relating to such a visit would be placed into the record.
