DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Audio Cassette Recording Titled: WORK SESSION
August 24, 1987; 10:00-11:00 AM.
A meeting of the Board of County Commissioners was held on August 24, 1987.
Commissioners present were Lois Prante, Dick Maudlin and Tom Throop. Also
present were Rick (sham, County Counsel; County Administrator Mike Maier; and
other staff.
The following are items discussed that may be on a future Board business
meeting agenda.
Policy on how to respond to complaints made by anonymous callers. Legal
Counsel says this depends on the specificity of the information and whether there
might be health or safety issues. Much of this would have to be simply a
judgment call. Legal will try to develop some kind of guidelines.
Agreements with the Redmond School District and Sisters School District, the ESD,
St. Francis of Assisi School, and the Brothers School District. For health services.
(The staff person was too far away from the recording equipment to hear
specifics of the agreements.)

Approval of new administrative assistant for Juvenile Services.
Signature of Order 87-067, refunding taxes.
Conservation easement between Deschutes County and Richard and Bonnie
Hensley in Oregon Water Wonderland.
Signature of a major partition 86-1.
Signature of a road dedication.
Resolution 87-047, authorizing Gates McDonald to sign checks for the County,
when the Treasurer is not available.
Juvenile Detention Center construction discussion and update. They are waiting
for doors to be delivered. The building should be ready for occupancy by the
middle of October.
Order 87-068, designating a load limit on Bridge Drive, at Lazy River South. The
bridge will be replaced sometime in the next couple of years but, in the
meantime, there needs to be a load limit designated at nine tons. This would
exclude heavy traffic such as concrete delivery trucks. (A long discussion occurred
regarding this situation because this is the only road into the subdivision.) The
Board wants to further review the ramifications and the dangers before adopting
this order.
Discussion of an effort to create an LID for a second bridge in the Lazy River South
area. It would be a disaster if the only bridge there collapsed.
Signature of an amendment of a term business loan for Ellis ?
Order 87-069, tax foreclosure properties to be redeemed.
Liquor license renewals.
Signature of a development agreement between the County and Don Walker of
Secure Storage.
