This has become a media issue, and there is some disagreement on how to proceed. Commissioner Schlangen indicated that this situation needs to be settled equitably and quickly. The County does not want to compromise its current personnel system, so it was decided the situation would be best handled by providing Mr. Slaughter with an allowance. Mr. Slaughter can pick whomever he wants to help him, and supervise and pay that person direct. She gave him a copy of the proposal to review. Discussion of putting together a committee to study the space situation within the County. Several departments have severe space issues. The committee will review several proposals from architects. I certify that the above is a true and accurate record of a meeting, as reproduced from a cassette tape identified as Minutes of a Meeting of the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners, held on July 19, 1993. This record was completed subsequent to the presiding Deschutes County Board of Commissioners' tenure.
