A meeting of the Board of County Commissioners was held on March 28, 1994. Commissioners present were Nancy Pope Schlangen, Tom Troop and Barry Slaughter. Also in attendance were Rick Isham, County Counsel; County Administrator Mike Maier; the media, other staff and a few citizens. Items discussed at this meeting may be on a future Board business meeting agenda: Discussion of a public hearing on a road dedication to adjust a cul-de-sac. This has to do with a lot line adjustment on Beemus Lane. Discussion of signing a Proclamation declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Discussion of signature of Resolution 94-028, initiating the Comanche Circle local improvement district. This will include a few lots on Navajo Road. There is 73% support. Public Works would like to send two road coordinators and two back-up coordinators to this conference. Discussion of adding dental care now that the Oregon Health Plan is coming into practice. Discussion with Bob Main of Water Resources regarding a variety of water -related issues. One in particular is the formation of watershed advisory councils, as authorized by HB 2215 to act as local advisories for watershed restoration projects. The Deschutes Basin acts somewhat as a model as to how these groups can function, especially in light of the work of the Deschutes Basin Resource Committee. Discussion of upcoming meetings: with the Forest Service; with Water Resources; Property Management; the Treasurer; budget discussions; and an update of the hiring of a new Director for Community Development. The first offer was refused. Discussion of signature of the Sun Village Realty land use decision. Bruce White gave a brief overview of the decision. Discussion of appointments to the Panoramic Access Special Road District board of directors. Discussion of signature of a liquor license application renewal for Baja Norte in Sunriver. Discussion of the County's role regarding the management of the La Pine Cemetery. This has been an ongoing problem, and needs to be addressed since it involves County land. The County's Public Information Committee will be looking into this and will advise as appropriate. Discussion of the Health Department's request to be designated Department of the Month for May. They still need to designate one for April. Mr. Throop will speak to staff about which one is next.
