A meeting of the Board of County Commissioners was held on August 29, 1994.
Commissioners present were Nancy Pope Schlangen, Tom Troop and Barry
Slaughter. Also in attendance were Rick Isham, County Counsel; County
Administrator Mike Maier; the media, other staff and a few citizens.
Items discussed at this meeting may be on a future Board business meeting

Discussion of an appeal of the Hearings Officer's decision on the produce storage
facility.
Discussion of the second reading and adoption of the County outdoor lighting
ordinance.
Discussion of signature of Order 94-126, authorizing expenditures from the Road
fund for maintenance of local access roads prior to paving in the Squaw Creek
Canyon area.

Discussion of signature of Resolution 94-089, accepting a petition to vacate a
portion of 11th Street in Terrebonne.
Discussion of bids received for a laser finger -printer for the Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Greg Brown gave an overview of the item.
Discussion of bids received for a Sheriff's Office phone system for inmates. Ruth
Jenkin provided information on this item.
Discussion of bids received for inmate food service in the Jail. Ruth Jenkin
explained the results.
Discussion of signature of an agreement with the AIDS Support Team. There is an
increase in funding due to Ryan White dollars.
Discussion of approval of a sublease agreement for divorce mediation services
provided at the Rosie Bareis Center.
Discussion of a request for out of state travel for Support Enforcement training in
Seattle. The total cost for two people to attend is $233 because most of the
expense is covered by grant funds.
Discussion of signature of a conservation easement for John and Janet Lee.
Discussion of signature of a lease with the Education Service District for office
space. Staff explained that this will be short-term because Jefferson County will
become the lead for this District.
Discussion about the County having too many locations, and perhaps figuring out
how to be more centralized.
Discussion of signature of Resolutions transferring cash among various funds.
Discussion of signature of Resolution 94-095, declaring an exemption from
competitive bidding for a ballot reader upgrade.
Discussion of signature of an intergovernmental agreement with the State for
printing of the voters' pamphlet.

Discussion of various liquor license renewals.
Discussion of signature of renewal of a subcontract with the Central Oregon

building for Deschutes Environmental Services, in Sunriver.
Discussion of the status of the Commission on Children & Families' request for
$2,000 funding.
Discussion of fire siting standards in forest zones, and when the Planning
Commission should address this.
Discussion of an upcoming meeting with the Commission on Children & Families,
and a desire that there be a lengthy discussion on certain topics, including
Planned Parenthood. They are expecting a Targe number of people to show up
because of the subject matter.
