Commissioner Schlangen said she is working with Bend Metro Park and Recreation District and the School District to develop a youth soccer field on some property between Bear Creek School and Ponderosa Park. This is a joint effort between the two entities. They are going to be clearing and removing brush, and wanted to know if they can dispose of this material at the landfill at no cost. They also asked if they could get some fill from the County at no charge. This could be up to $10,000 total. Mr. Maier stated that he feels the Board should hold strong on waiving fees. There are enterprise funds in the County that are dependent on these funds, and once you open that door, it will be hard to close it. He noted that the Schools and Parks have not been agreeable to the County even using their facilities for short- term events at no cost.
