AGENDA REQUEST & STAFF REPORT
For Board of Commissioners Business Meeting of July 11, 2018
DATE: duly 3, 2018
FROM: Peter Russell, Community Development, 541-383-6718
TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM:
Consideration of Board Signatures of Orders 2018-048 and 2018-049 to Assign Names of
8Th Street and Strickler Avenue to Private Alley Easements in Tumalo
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
Consider approving Board Order 2018-048 to name a private easement for an alley as 8th
Street and Order 2018-049 to name a private easement for an alley as Strickler Avenue in
CONTRACTOR: Contractor/Supplier/Consultant Name: N/A
AGREEMENT TIMEFRAME: Starting Date: Ending Date:
INSURANCE:
Insurance Certificate Required: No
Insurance Review Required by Risk Management: No
BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
The Town of Laidlaw was platted in 1904. Now known as Tumalo, the public rights of way for
these segments of 8th Street and Stricker Avenue were vacated in 2002. The affected lots are
now under single ownership (Kine LLC) and several lots require addresses for various permits
in order to develop. The County's code for addresses has naming requirements for accesses.
Board Orders 2018-048 and 049 will re-establish the names of 8th Street and Strickler Avenue
in their historic locations. The named private easements will provide alley access to several
properties bounded roughly by Bailey Road, OB Riley Road, Wood Avenue, and US 20. The
proposed names were reviewed and approved under File 247 -18 -000388 -RN, which was not
appealed. Deschutes County Code 16.16, Road Naming, requires a Board order to assign a
name.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None.
ATTENDANCE: Peter Russell, Community Development Department.
