BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY,
OREGON ACTING AS THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE COUNTYWIDE LAW
ENFORCEMENT DISTRICT (DISTRICT 1) AND THE RURAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
DISTRICT (DISTRICT 2)
A Resolution to Increase Appropriations
within the 2020-21 Deschutes * RESOLUTION NO. 2021-046
County Budget
WHEREAS, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is primarily funded through
Countywide and Rural Law Enforcement Districts (LEDs), and
WHEREAS, as the 2020-21 Fiscal Year comes to a close it is necessary to increase
appropriations within the Deschutes County Budget to account for unforeseen expenditures
primarily related to Program Expense costs, and
WHEREAS, ORS 294.463 allows the transfer of contingency within a fund when
authorized by resolution of the governing body, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to transfer $1,000,0000 in Contingency to Public Safety to
accommodate this request;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, ACTING AS THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE
COUNTYWIDE LAW ENFORCEMENT DISTRICT (DISTRICT 1) AND THE RURAL LAW
ENFORCEMENT DISTRICT (DISTRICT 2), as follows:
Section 1. That the following transfer of appropriations be made:
Countywide Law Enforcement
Public Safety $ 1,000,000
Contingency ($ 1,000,000)

Section2. That the Chief Financial Officer make the appropriate entries in the
Deschutes County Financial System to show the above appropriations.

Consideration of Board Signature of Resolution No. 2021-046 Increasing Appropriations
Within the 2020-21 Deschutes County Budget
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of Board Signature of Resolution No. 2021-046 Increasing Appropriations Within
the 2020-21 Deschutes County Budget.
BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
This Resolution allows a transfer of $1, 000, 000 in contingency from Countywide Law
Enforcement District #1 to Public Safety to increase appropriations related to end of year
Program Expense.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: The Sheriff's Office (Fund 255) will receive an increase of
$1,000,000 in funding to support end of year Program Expense. Countywide Law Enforcement
District #1 contingency will decrease by $1,000,0000.
