Luke MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING Mike Daly DESCHUTES COUNTY BUDGET COMMITTEE DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 2001 The purpose of this meeting was to appoint an Interim County Assessor to take Kim Worrell's place when his resignation as County Assessor becomes effective on September 1, 2001; and also to determine compensation for the Interim Assessor. Present were Commissioners Dennis Luke and Mike Daly; Mike Maier, County Administrator; Susan Ross, Commissioners' Office; Lee Smith and Lauri Miller, Budget Committee; and Marty Wynne, Finance Director. Budget Committee Chair Larry Kimmel took part in the meeting via conference call. Also present were Renee Warner, Building Services; George Kolb, Road Department; and Jim Bonnarens and Tammy Credicott, Property Management. Acting Chair Mike Daly called the meeting of the Board of Commissioners to order at 1: 30 p. m. Commissioner Luke explained that after completing a comprehensive interview process, a decision has been made as to the selection of an Interim County Assessor who will take over Kim Worrell's position effective September 1, 2001. DALY: I move that Scot W. Langton be appointed as Interim County Assessor, effective September 1, 2001. LUKE: Second. VOTE: LUKE: Yes. DALY: Chair votes yes. Special Meeting Page 1 of 2 Pages Budget Committee and Board of Commissioners Wednesday, August 8, 2001 Quality Services Performed with Pride At this time, Chair Larry Kimmel opened the meeting of the Budget Committee; and Commissioner Dennis Luke, Budget Officer, opened the meeting on behalf of the County. Mike Maier explained that a salary adjustment requires action of the Budget Committee, and that in this case a salary adjustment is deemed appropriate. He said that Scot Langton, as Chief Property Appraiser, currently receives $5,317.87 per month, and that the Assessor is currently paid $4,641.27 per month. After a brief discussion, it was decided that Mr. Langton should not be financially penalized for taking on the additional responsibilities of Interim County Assessor.
