OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON
A Resolution Supporting the Candidacy of
Umatilla County Commissioner Bill Hansell
For NACo Second Vice President
RESOLUTION NO. 2001-090
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Deschutes County Board
of Commissioners that Umatilla County Commissioner Bill Hansell intends to
run for the office of Second Vice President of the National Association of
Counties (NACo); and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Hansell has demonstrated his commitment to
local government by serving as a Umatilla County Commissioner since 1983,
which makes him the longest serving commissioner in Umatilla County's history;
and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Hansell recognizes the value of cooperative
efforts among local governing bodies as exhibited by his involvement in the
Association of Oregon Counties (President in 1988) and the National
Association of Counties; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Hansell has participated actively and
effectively on NACo committees and subcommittees, most notably as a member
of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee for the past 17 years
(and Chair for four years); and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Hansell currently represents Oregon on the
NACo Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Hansell's selection as NACo Second Vice
President would provide a strong voice for Oregon's counties in the NACo
legislative endeavors;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, HEREBY ENDORSES AND
SUPPORTS the candidacy of Umatilla County Commissioner BILL
HANSELL for the position of NACo Second Vice President.
