existing Dwel-
lings as
John Andersen, Planning Director, gave some background
Ranch Hand
information on this. He stated that it was the Plan -
Residences
ning Commission's recommendation to impose a 40 -acre
minimum because that more adequately defines a reasonable
farm unit, and that a.farm, use of less than 40 acres
probably did not require additional help. They felt
that the 40 -acre minimum would prevent misuse of the
ordinance by individuals who wished to build a rental
residence on their property. The proposed ordinances
does provide the opportunity for a hearing if the
applicant wished to build a farmhand house on a parcel
less than 40 acres in size.
Mr. Hansen explained that his client wanted to maintain
the existing.stick built house on the property as a
farmhand residence and build a new family residence.
The ordinance provides for.a mobile home as a farmhand
residence on a parcel of 20 acres or larger and he
encouraged the Board to.maintain this standard for
stick built homes.
It was the concensus. of the Board that the ordinance
should reflect a 20 -acre minimum as opposed to the
40 -acre minimum.
