ORDER NO. 84-149
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is vested with
the authority to impose limits as to any gross weight of any
vehicle or combination of vehicles that, in their judgment, are
necessary to protect roadways under their jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has been advised
by the Director of Public Works as to the recommended gross
weight limits to be placed on a certain roadway under their
jurisdiction known as LaPine Recreation Road from Highway 97 West
to the Fifth Street extension; and
WHEREAS, it appearing necessary that for the protection of
this road from being unduly damaged, and to protect the interests
and safety of the general public, that said road should have the
gross weight limit as recommended by the Director of Public Works
imposed; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Public
Works that the gross weight limit of said road be modified from
ten (10) tons to twenty (20) tons; now, therefore,
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY,
OREGON, ORDERS as follows:
Section 1. That the gross weight limit of ten (10) tons be
changed to twenty (20) tons for that section of LaPine Recreation
Road from Highway 97 West to the Fifth Street extension, as
recommended by the Director of Public Works.
Section 2. That the Director of Public Works post forthwith
signs giving notice of the gross weight limitation contained in
this Order in a conspicuous places and at reasonable intervals
along said roadway.
