located between the Deschutes River and the LiƩle
Deschutes River. The land is covered with sparse
stands of Lodgepole Pine trees and naƟve plants,
like Bunchgrass and BiƩerbrush. The rural
community in this township was known historically
as Rosland. The homestead contains five, small,
one‐story buildings and a hand‐dug water well. All
of the buildings were constructed between 1914
and 1915. A significant element of the homestead
is the two cabins, garage, outhouse and well are
essenƟally as they were during the homesteader’s
lifeƟme and conƟnue to reflect life during the
historic period.
The buildings are simple, funcƟonal and rectangular. They were constructed with logs, poles
and rough‐sawn lumber cut from trees harvested on site.
