Walter, established a ranch headquarters
on the Dry River bed north of Pine
Mountain ‐ present site of Millican on the
Bend‐Burns Highway. A well was dug on
site and the “miraculously fine water
supply...was pracƟcally the only water for
miles”. In 1890, Walter Millican built a
windmill and two watering tanks.
