oldest house in Deschutes County and the
first bridge crossing the Deschutes River
stands at Tetherow Crossing. Prior to the
bridge, Andrew Tetherow operated a toll
ferry at this site. He had an orchard,
brewery and a small stock of supplies for
travelers.
AŌer the original bridge was
washed out, an updated
bridge was built on tops of
railroad flat cars which rest on
concrete supports.
