HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-12-02 - BPAC Minutes Meeting Minutes DESCHUTES COUNTY BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE Thursday, December 2, 2010-12:30pm to 1:30pm ODOT Region 4 Main Office Members Present: Cheryl Howard, Chuck Humphreys, Matt Martin, Eli Ashley, Michele Sims, Jim Stone Agency: Rick Root-City of Bend, Mike Caccavano-City of Redmond, Bill Hilton- ODOT, Lucas Freeman-ODOT, Mike Condon-ODOT, Dan Serpico-ODOT Audio recording of this meeting is archived for review and/or transcription. The purpose of this document is to outline topics of discussion and actions by the Committee. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 12:32pm. Introductions Prior Minutes Meeting minutes from the November 2010 meeting were approved by unanimous vote. Parkway/Reed Lane/Badger Road Study Dan Serpico made Power Point presentation of pedestrian audit performed and findings. Recommended improvements include installation of Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacons (RRFB), additional signage, and crosswalk restriping. Future improvements or modifications will be considered upon completion of the Murphy Road project. BPAC Business Sidewalk snow removal/safe sidewalk award considerations Cheryl led discussion regarding expanding the safe sidewalk award to include recognition of year-round maintenance of sidewalks including elimination of other hazards such as vegetation and debris. The Committee was supportive of this expansion. PBIC Walk Friendly Communities With application due date very soon the Committee agreed to postpone submission of the Walk Friendly Community application until the next application cycle. City Updates City of Sisters Funding was received for Main Street improvements including back in parking and sidewalk in- fill improvements. City of Redmond A bike friendly survey was recently completed. City of Bend Grant application approved for “Riverside/Franklin” buffered bike lane improvements. Adjournment Meeting adjourned at 1:40 pm. Note: Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Bend City Hall.
