DESCHUTES COUNTY BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Thursday, Maarch 3, 2011-Noon to 2:00pm Redmond City Hall – Conference Room A

Call to Order
Meeting was called to order at 12:05pm.
Introductions
Prior Minutes
Meeting minutes from the February 2011 meeting were approved by unanimous vote.
City of Redmond Bicycle and Pedestrian Projects
Mike Caccavano provided a Power Point presentation highlighting current and planned projects.
The current projects included bike lane and sidewalk improvements to Reservoir Drive, Black
Butte Boulevard, and 5th Street. The planned projects included improvements to 6th Street
(Spring 2012), 27th Street (Spring 2011), and South Canal Boulevard (Spring 2012).
Redmond Bike Facilities Framework Plan
Heather Richards provided overview of the work. Redmond enlisted Portland State University
to assist in analysis of ridership and priorities. Amy Hesse and Reza Farhood from
PSU/Bispoke provided a Power Point presentation of the project. Meeting attendees then broke
into small groups for a mapping exercise.
East Redmond Mountain Bike Trails
Shirlee Evans provided overview of new mountain bike trails planned for areas east of
Redmond. Construction is expected to begin in May. Central Oregon Trail Alliance (COTA) is
involved.
Prioritizing and Financing Downtown Urban Renewal District Sidewalk Connections
Mike Caccavano provided overview of this project to evaluate and priorities sidewalk
connectivity and ADA routes in the downtown area.
Bicycling Infraction Diversion Program Update
Chris Carney provided update on this project and developments.
City Updates
Sisters
-ODOT is pursuing a grant for a path that will extend from Space Age gas to the Ray’s shopping
center.
Redmond
-A grant was received for stair case construction for dry canyon access at Maple Avenue
Bend
-Galveston Avenue task force formed to address transportation, walkability, etc. issues along
the corridor.
ODOT
-Innis Market Road/Tweed Road widening project still under construction. Completion expected
in the spring or fall.
South County
Improvements planned for Spring River Road and La Pine State Rec Road planned. Jim
provided details from a meeting he had with Tom Blust, Deschutes County Road Department
Manager.
Adjournment
Meeting adjourned at 1:32pm. Walking tour of Downtown Redmond followed.
Note: Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Bend City Hall.
