TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM:
Consideration and signature of Resolution #2014-019, appropriating a new grant in the Commission on
Families & Children Fund.
PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? NO
BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
Consideration of Resolution #2014-019. The Children & Families Commission was awarded additional
grant funding in the amount of $60,785. This award will be used to support suicide prevention efforts
through a series of trainings. The department will hire a Health Educator II
(.50 FTE) to act as a grant coordinator.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The County will receive an additional $60,785 from the State of Oregon and Program Fees. This
funding will provide additional resources not included in the FY 2014 Adopted Budget.
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval and signature of Resolution #2014-019.

to the Deschutes County 2013-2014 Budget * RESOLUTION NO. 2014-019

WHEREAS, Deschutes County Commission on Families & Children will receive new State
grant revenue totaling $60,785; and
WHEREAS, these new grant funds need to be appropriated; and
WHEREAS, ORS 294.326(2) allows the appropriation and expenditures of new grant funds
designated to specific purposes; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES
COUNTY, OREGON, as follows:
Section 1. That the following grants be budgeted:

Deschutes County Public Health (Fund 393 CFC in FY 14) was awarded an 18 month Mental Health Promotion and
Prevention Grant to support suicide prevention across the region during the 2013-2015 biennium. These funds are to
be used to promote suicide prevention through a series of trainings. The .50 Health Educator II will act as a grant
coordinator.
Tom Anderson approved the addition of the fte on 1/16/14.
This position will be filled no earlier than March 1 for health benefits trust purposes.
Teri -this fte will need to be added in Fund 393 for FY 14 and Fund 259, project code HMHPP, in FY 15.
