Consideration of Board signature of Document 2014-555, a Lease between Deschutes County and
Oregon State University for office space in the South County Services Building.

BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
Oregon State University (OSU) wishes to extend a lease for approximately 140 square feet of office
space in the South County Services Building to operate the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance
Program Education (SNAP-Ed) for residents of southern Deschutes County. Under the auspices ofthe
State Department of Human Services, the Extension Service arm of OSU operates SNAP-Ed to provide
education to low income households to make healthy food choices and lead active lifestyles. The term
ofthe extended lease is one (1) year, (commencing October 1, 2014 and ending September 30, 2015).
The term ofthe lease coincides with the fiscal year funding of the SNAP-Ed program.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Annual rental income is $1,560 ($130/month).

Staff recommends signature of Document 2014-555.

FIRST AMENDMENT TO LEASE
Parties:
LESSOR: DESCHUTES COUNTY, a political subdivision of the State of Oregon
LESSEE: OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY (formerly known as The STATE OF OREGON, acting
by and through the State Board of Higher Education on behalf of OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY)
WHEREAS, Lessor and Lessee entered into a Lease (DC 2014-242) with an effective date
of June 30, 2014, ("the Lease") covering space described as approximately one hundred forty
(140) square feet of office space in the South County Services Building located at 51340 Highway
97, La Pine, Oregon 97739, Suite 103 (the "Premises"); and
WHEREAS, the current term of the Lease expires September 30, 2014 and pursuant to
Section 1, the Lessee wishes to exercise its option to renew; and
WHEREAS, the parties desire to change the location of the space within the same building
(the "Premises»);
NOW, THEREFORE, the parties agree that the Lease is hereby amended as
follows:
1. Premises is deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following:
"Approximately one hundred forty (140) square feet of office space in the South
County Services Building located at 51340 Highway 97, La Pine, Oregon 97739, Suite
108 (the "Premises"), as shown on Exhibit A."
2. Section 1 Term and Renewal is deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following:
"The effective date of this Lease shall be June 30, 2014, and shall continue until
September 30, 2015. This Lease may be terminated by either party upon sixty (60)
days' prior written notice,"
Except as otherwise provided in this Amendment, the terms and conditions of the Lease remain in
effect.
