No BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS: Deschutes County Code 2.37.110 sets out the methods the County can use to dispose of surplus property, including the use ofpublic auctions. Current technology allows the use ofonline auction web sites, such as PublicSurplus.com, which enables the Sheriff's Office to quickly auction surplus property that would otherwise devalue and be exposed to the elements as it sits idle. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: The Sheriff's Office has used PublicSurplus.com since January, 2008 and has been successful in selling the surplus vehicles. PublicSurplus.com imposes a 7% surcharge per vehicle at the time of sale. The surcharge is paid by the purchaser. RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED: Approve and sign Order No. 2012-019. For Recording Stamp Only BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON An Order Declaring Certain Deschutes * County Personal Property Surplus and * ORDER NO. 2012-019 Authorizing Sale. * WHEREAS, certain personal property described in Exhibit A, attached hereto by this reference incorporated herein, is no longer needed for public use by the County; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to dispose of this surplus personal property; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to dispose of such property by auction; now, therefore, THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, HEREBY ORDERS as follows: Section 1. The Deschutes County Sheriff, or his designee, is hereby authorized and directed to dispose of the personal property described in Exhibit A to this order at public auction. Section 2. The Chair is authorized on behalf of the County to execute any and all documents necessary to complete the transfer of any personal property authorized to be auctioned in accordance with this order.
