PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? No BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS: This is the first amendment to 2010-112, the Collective Bargaining Agreement Between the Deschutes County Sheriff and the Deschutes County Sheriff Employees Association. Following discussions between the administrative staff at the Sheriff's Office and members ofthe Deschutes County Sheriff Employees Association, the job classification of Corrections Technician was added to the Collective Bargaining Agreement that was signed February 2, 2010. The Association and the Association's legal counsel reviewed and accepted the wage scale proposal. The Association and the Association's legal counsel declined to re-open the contract FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: The Deschutes County Sheriff Employee Association Hourly Pay Ranges for Corrections Technician range from $18.5104 at Step 1 to $22.5030 at Step 5. RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED: Approve and sign document 2012-509. In adding the Corrections Technician classification the County and Association followed the procedures in Article 2, sections C and D as stated below. The County and Association agree that the job classification of Corrections Technician is added to Article 2, Recognition, sections Band C as being included in the bargaining unit. Exhibit 1 adds Corrections Technician to the list of job classifications included in the bargaining unit. The Corrections Technician job classification will therefore have the same rights under the Collective Bargaining Agreement as the job classifications listed in Article 2, section B. The Association has reviewed the wage scale, Exhibit 2, dated July 1, 2012 for the job classification of Corrections Technician and does not request to reopen the contract under Article 2 Recognition, Section D 1, which allows for negotiation of the wage scale for a new job classification. After review, the Association accepts the wage scale proposed for the new job classification provided in Exhibit 2.
