BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
j This document is an amendment to IGA 2012-204 in which the Sunriver Police Department
renewed an annual agreement to pay the Sheriff's Office for use of the Sheriff's radio
communication system and mobile data communication system during FY 2012-13.
Sunriver's police department will discontinue its use of the Sheriff's Office mobile data
communication ("MDC") system as ofmidnight on December 31,2012 because it cannot comply
with the Criminal Justice Infonnation System's (CnS's) encryption requirements and must move to
an alternative solution for its mobile data communications.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Sunriver Police Department will not be required to pay the Sheriff for use of the MDC system after
December 31, 2012, which is 6 months into the original 12-month agreement. The Sunriver Police
Department will pay the Sheriff's Office $977, or half of the $1,954 agreed upon in the original
IGA, for use of the Sheriff's Office MDC system.
The Sunriver Police Department has 17 portable radios. In the original IGA, the Sunriver Police
Department agreed to pay the Sheriff's Office $17,550 for use of the Sheriff's Office radio
communication system. There is no change to the charge for use of the radio system.

AMENDMENT NO.1 TO
DESCHUTES COUNTY INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT NO. 2012-204
THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT, Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) Contract No. 2012-204 dated July 1, 2012, by and
between Deschutes County, Oregon, a political subdivision of the State of Oregon, by and through its Sheriffs Office
(Sheriff), and the Governing Body of Sunriver Service District, by and through its Police Department (Sunriver), is
amended, effective upon signing of all parties, as set forth below.
All other provisions of the IGA remain the same and in full force.
The above listed IGA is amended as follows:
Sunriver's police department will discontinue its use of the Sheriffs Office Mobile Data Communications ("MDC") Systems
as of midnight on December 31, 2012. The police department cannot currently comply with the Criminal Justice
Information System's (CJIS) encryption requirements, and therefore must move to an alternative solution for its Mobile
Data Communications.
Sunriver will not be required to pay the Sheriff for use of the MDC after December 31, 2012.
Section 3. Compensation
3.1.2 Amend to read $977.00forannual MDT use based on 5 units.
All other provisions of the IGA remain the same and in full force.
