TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM:
Consideration and signature of Resolution #2011-121, appropriating a new grant in the Behavioral
Health Fund.

BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
Consideration of Resolution #2011-121. The Behavioral Health Department was awarded a grant for
$180,000 which will be used to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance abuse,
childhood & underage drinking, reduce substance abuse related problems, as well as build prevention
capacity and infrastructure at the local level. These resources will be expended as a sub-grant to CFC
for prevention services.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The County will receive an additional $180,000 from the Oregon Department of Human Services as
part of an amendment to the Intergovernmental Agreement. This funding will provide additional
resources not included in the FY 2012 Adopted Budget.
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval and signature of Resolution #2011-121.

to the Deschutes County 2011-2012 Budget * RESOLUTION NO. 2011-121

WHEREAS, Deschutes County Behavioral Health Department will receive new State grant
revenue totaling $180,000; and
WHEREAS, these new grant funds need to be appropriated; and
WHEREAS, ORS 294.326(2) allows the appropriation and expenditures of new grant funds
designated to specific purposes; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES
COUNTY, OREGON, as follows:
Section 1. That the following grants be budgeted:
Revenue
275-0000-334.12-00 State Grant $ 180,000
TOTAL REVENUE: $ 180,000
Section 2. That the following appropriations be made within the 2011-12 County Budget:
Expenditures
Materials & Service:
OCCF Programs $ 180,000
TOTAL EXPENDITURES: $180,000

Attached please find a budget resolution for an alcohol and drug strategic prevention framework incentive grant. These
funds will be passed through to Commission on Families and Children for prevention services, Grant goals include: to
prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance abuse, including childhood and underage drinking; reduce
substance abuse related problems; and build prevention capacity and infrastructure at the local level.
