BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
Aramark Correctional Services is the current vendor for correctional food services for the county.
Aramark provides food services for the jail and juvenile detention. It also provides food for jail
commissary services and snacks at the work center. This document amends Contract No. 2007 -029 to
reflect the increase in compensation the County will pay per adult meal, juvenile meal, juvenile snack,
and work center snack.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Under this contract, County will pay $1.391 per adult meal, an increase of 12 cents per meal; $2.057
per juvenile meal, an increase of 18 cents per meal; $0.611 per juvenile snack, an increase of 5 cents
per snack; and $1.6174 per work center snack, a new service that Aramark will provide. These
numbers reflect a 4.9% increase from the prices in the 2007 contract and extends the contract as
permitted in the original contract, for two additional years.
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
Approve and sign Contract No. 2009 -169, an amendment to the 2007 contract, providing for inmate,
juvenile detention, staff meals, commissary services in the jail, and snack services at the work center.

Background & History: On October 4, 2006, the Commissioners awarded the contract for
providing correctional food services for the County to Aramark, the current vendor. Document
2009 -169 amends Contract No. 2007 -029 to reflect the increase in compensation the County will pay
per adult meal, juvenile meal, juvenile snack (4.9 %) and the addition of work center snacks.
Agreement Starting Date: March 1, 2009 Ending Date: September 30, 2011
Annual Value or Total Payment: Approximately $347,000.00 in adult meals per year and
approximately $2,250.00 in juvenile meals per year, assuming an average daily population of 10
juveniles.

AMENDING DESCHUTES COUNTY CONTRACT NO. 2007 -029
THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT, Deschutes County Contract No.2007 -029 dated January 24, 2007
( "Agreement ") by and between DESCHUTES COUNTY, a political subdivision of the State of Oregon ( "County')
and Aramark Correctional Services, Inc. ( "Contractor"), is amended, effective upon signing of all parties, as set
forth below. Except as provided herein, all other provisions of the contract remain the same and in full force.
The parties acknowledge that from July 1, 2008 to the present, the amounts paid were $1.326 per adult meal,
$1.961 per juvenile meal, $0.582, per juvenile snack and $1.5419 per work center snack.
County's performance hereunder is conditioned upon Contractor's compliance with provisions of ORS
279B.220, 279B.225, 279B.230, and 279B.235, which are hereby incorporated by reference. Contractor
certifies that the representations, warranties and certifications contained in the original Contract are true and
correct as of the effective date of this Amendment and with the same effect as though made at the time of this
Amendment.
The above listed contract is amended as follows:
1. The effective and termination dates in paragraph 2 on pg 1 are deleted in their entirety and replaced wi:h
the following:
Effective date: The effective date of this amendment is March 1, 2009.
Termination date: The termination date is September 30, 2011 at 11:59 p.m.
2. Exhibit 1, paragraph 2a, The maximum compensation is amended to read as follows with new language
underlined and deleted language set forth in striket g
a. The maximum compensation County will pay under this contract is $1.271 $1.391 per adult meal,
$1.884 $2.057 per juvenile meal, $0.56 $0.611 per juvenile snack and $1.6174 per work center snack.
Contractor will provide, at no additional cost, a lacto -ovo vegetarian and /or vegan diet for all religious
requests from the jail administration or religious authority. Other religious meals requested by the jail
administration or religious authority, such as prepackaged meals, shall be provided at a price to be
mutually agreed upon.
