AGENDA REQUEST & STAFF REPORT
For Board Business Meeting of October 14, 2009
Please see directions for completing this document on the next page.
DATE: October 6, 2009
FROM: Marty Wynne Finance Phone # (541) 388 -6559
TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM:
Consideration and signature of Resolution #2009 -121, transfer of appropriation in the Deschutes
County Sheriffs Office Fund.
PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? NO
BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
Consideration of Resolution #2009 -121, transfer of appropriation in the Deschutes County Sheriffs
Office Fund. The FY 2010 original budget included an appropriation for the purchase of ten Mobile
Data Terminals (MDT) in the Materials & Service category of the Patrol Department. However,
because the cost of these MDT's will exceed $5,000 each, the expenditure is properly considered to be
Capital Outlay. An appropriation transfer from Materials & Service to Capital Outlay is therefore
required.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
A transfer of appropriation from Materials & Service to Capital Outlay in the Deschutes County
Sheriffs Office Patrol Department for $51,000 is necessary.
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval and signature of Resolution #2009 -121.
ATTENDANCE: Marty Wynne

A transfer of appropriation is required for the following reason and will be used for the following purpose:
The budget assumed the unit price of MDT's would be under the $5,000.00 capitalization amount. The actual unit price from Motrola is
above $5,000.00. The transfer moves the budget from expense to capital for the ten MDT's.
