TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM:
Consideration and signature of Resolution #2015-007, appropriating a new grant in the Public Health
Fund.
PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? NO
BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
Consideration of Resolution #2015-007. The Public Health Department was awarded a grant in the
amount of$48,750. These additional resources will allow the Department to increase FTE by .50 in
order to prepare mental health professionals who assess suicide risk, plan treatment and manage the
on-going care of clients.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The County will receive an additional $48,750 from the Oregon Health Authority. This funding will
provide additional resources not included in the FY 2015 Adopted Budget.
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval and signature of Resolution #2015-007.

BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON
A Resolution Appropriating New Grant Funds *
to the Deschutes County 2014-2015 Budget RESOLUTION NO. 2015-007 *

WHEREAS, Deschutes County Public Health Department will receive new Federal grant
revenue totaling $48,750; and
WHEREAS, these new grant funds need to be appropriated; and
WHEREAS, ORS 294.326(2) allows the appropriation and expenditures of new grant funds
designated to specific purposes; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES
COUNTY, OREGON, as follows:
Section 1. That the following grants be budgeted:

Attached is a supplemental budget request regarding a grant referred to as the Garrett Lee Smith Caring Connections
Grant, CFDA #93.243. Deschutes County Health Services Public Health has been awarded this federal grant through the
Oregon Health Authority for suicide prevention. The term of this grant is 9/30/14 through 9/29/19 and requires the
addition of a .50 Health Educator II. The intent of the grant is to prepare mental health professionals to be better
prepared to assess suicide risk, plan treatment and manage on-going care of clients.
Tom Anderson approved the addition of this limited duration fte on 1/2/15. This fte will be allocated to project code
HSCC -Public Health Suicide Caring Connections.

Deschutes County HeaHh Services -PubliC Health has been awarded a federal gram through the Oregon Health Authority for suicide
prevention. This gram is known as the Garrett Lee Smith Caring Connections Grant, CFDA #93.243. The term of this grant is 9130/14 through
