DATE: January 16, 2008 TO: Deschutes County Board of Commissioners FROM: Dan Peddycord, 322-7426 TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM: Consideration and signature of Document #2008-025 – the Oregon Military Department of the Office of Emergency Management State Homeland Security Program grant for the Deschutes County Health Department. PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? No. BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS: Document # DC-2008-025 These grant dollars (grant #07-213) from Oregon Emergency Management will enable us to purchase a generator for the Health Department ($50,000), which will ensure that vaccines are safe during power outages, as well as keep operations going in a disaster situation. $100,000 of this grant is dedicated to bring in trainers from out of the area to develop disaster response skills in the tri-County area. This money will pay for instructor time, and travel, supplies, and back pay for non-salaried employees. Starting Date: November 1, 2007 Ending Date: May 31, 2010 Total Value: $150,000 Fiscal Implications: These new Federal Homeland Security grant resources were not foreseen at the time the budget was adopted. A budget amendment has been submitted. RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED: Approval and signature of Document # DC-2008-024, the Oregon Military Department of the Office of Emergency Management State Homeland Security Program grant for the Deschutes County Health Department is requested.
