PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? NO BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS: Consideration of Resolution #2008-009 appropriating a new grant for the Deschutes County Health Department. The Health Department was recently awarded an indirect Federal grant from Homeland Security that will be distributed by the State in the amount of $188,436. These grant resources were not foreseen at the time the budget was adopted. These funds will be used to purchase a generator capable of powering the Health and Human Services Building, communication devices such as radios, and training. This grant is from the Federal Offices of Emergency Management and is not part of the State Public Health Preparedness Grant funds. Although expenditures of these resources are allowed through May 31, 2010, the Health Department anticipates expending these resources in Fiscal Year 2008. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: The County will receive $188,436 from the State of Oregon which will provide additional resources not included in the FY 2008 Adopted Budget and will expend such resources on a generator, radios, ar:.d training. That the following grants be budgeted: Revenue 259-0000-334.12-00 State Grant $188,436 TOTAL REVENUE: $188,436 Section 2. That the following appropriations be made within the 2007-08 County Budget.
