DATE: 01/28/2008 FROM: Teresa Rozic Property & FacilitiesDepartment 385-1414 TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of Board signature of Document 2008-043, a Quitclaim Deed. PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? No BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS: This department's practice is to prepare a Tax Deed upon receipt of the Tax Department's notice that the redemption period has expired for the current list of foreclosures. We found that it is not unusual for property owners to continue to redeem property after that date so we do not prepare the deed immediately. This year, three owners redeemed property between the expiration date (11/02/2007) and the date we prepared the deed for the Tax Collector's signature (01/10/2008). In error, we recorded the Tax Deed 01/22/2008 with one of the redeemed properties listed on it. Legal Counsel advises that recording a Quitclaim Deed is the appropriate method for correcting this mistake. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED: Staff recommends Board signature of Document 2008-043. ATTENDANCE: Teresa Rozic DISTRIBUTION OF DOCUMENTS: Return original to Teresa Rozic for recording with the County Clerk and transmittal to the recoi d owner.
