For Board Business Meeting of February 13, 2008
Please see directions for completing this document on the next page.
DATE: February 6, 2008
FROM: Marty Wynne Finance (541) 388-6559
TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM:
Consideration and signature of Resolution #2008-020, appropriating a new grant in the Deschutes
County Mental Health Department.
PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? NO
BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
Consideration of Resolution #2008-020 appropriating a new grant for the Deschutes County Mental
Health Department. The Mental Health Department was recently awarded a State grant in the amount of
$60,412. This additional funding will enable the County to expand "wraparound" services to children.
"Wraparound" is a catch phrase describing a team process designed to address the needs of children
involved with multiple agencies such as Mental Health, Juvenile Justice, Child Welfare, and Special
Education. Different people involved in the life of the child work in partnership with the family to
identify strengths and needs to develop a plan to help the child be more successful at home and in the
community. The grant monies will be used to pay a third -party provider for such services.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The County will receive $60,412 from the State of Oregon which will provide additional resources not
included in the FY 2008 Adopted Budget and will expend such resources on providing a third -parte
provider for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval and signature of Resolution #2008-020.
