AGENDA REQUEST & STAFF REPORT
For Board Business Meeting of March 5, 2008
Please see directions for completing this document on the next page.
DATE: February 15, 2008.
FROM: Kate Moore. HEALTH Phone #: 322-7422
TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM:
Consideration of Board Signature of Resolution Number 2008-026 donating a Dell Optiplex 170L
computer to the School Based Health Center at the Redmond School District.
PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? NO.
BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
The Health Department is in a planning process to open a new School Based Health Center on
Redmond School District property should opperational funding become available. Toward that end,
we've been using State planning grants to work with the school districts to select sites, figure out what
the County will need to provide, and what the schools can contribute.
As part of that planning effort, the County must commit to providing computer equipment for use it t the
SBHCs. These resolutions will allow us to donate these surplus computers to the school districts for
use in the SBHCs should operational funding become available. The schools will provide all of the
connectivity and IT support. Deschutes County's Information Technology Department can not provide
support to computers off our County campus, so they suggested the schools assume ownership of tl ie
computers and provide the connectivity and support.
School Based Health Center operations require Health Department staff to have electronic access to
Health Department client records and various State databases such as the ALERT immunization
tracking system. This access will be provided through a secure connection..
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None.

Approval and signature of Resolution 2008-026 declaring a computer (serial # 2Y3TS71) surplus
property of Deschutes County and to transfer the equipment to the Redmond School District.
ATTENDANCE: Kate Moore, Health Department.
