SW Obsidian Avenue, SW Quartz Avenue and SW 35th Street to the City of Redmond
PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? NO.
BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
Due to Redmond City Limit Annexation, portions of NW Maple Avenue, 27th Street, SW Obsidian
Avenue, SW Quartz Avenue and SW 35th Street now lie within the Redmond City limits and the
County has been requested to surrender these streets to the City of Redmond.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The City of Redmond will be responsible for all maintenance and planning duties for this section of
road and it will be removed from the counties maintenance responsibility
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
The Road Department recommends signature of Order No. 2008-032

City of Redmond, Oregon Pursuant to ORS

ORDER NO. 2008-032
WHEREAS, by Resolution, the City of Redmond has requested surrender of jurisdiction of
portions of the following roads located within the Redmond city limits:
NW Maple Avenue (Resolution No. 2008-10)
SW Obsidian and NW Maple Avenue (Resolution No. 2008-19)
SW Obsidian Avenue, SW Quartz Avenue and SW 35th Street (Resolution No. 2008-21)
as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and by this reference incorporated herein, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners finds that it is in the public interest to
surrender jurisdiction and accept the request set forth in Resolution No. 2008-10 dated the 11th day Df
March, 2008, Resolution No. 2008-19 dated the 8th day of April, 2008, and Resolution 2008-21 dated
the 8th day of April, 2008, of the City of Redmond; now, therefore,
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON,
HEREBY ORDERS as follows:
Section 1. That effective as of 12:00 AM, May 15, 2008, the Board of County Commissioners
hereby surrenders jurisdiction of portions of NW Maple Avenue (Resolution No. 2008-10); SW
Obsidian and NW Maple Avenue (Resolution No. 2008-19) and SW Obsidian Avenue, SW Quartz
Avenue and SW 35th Street (Resolution No. 2008-21), attached hereto as Exhibit "A", to the City of
Redmond.
Section 2. From and after 12:00 AM, May 15, 2008, the roads listed in Exhibit "A" shall be Caty
of Redmond streets.

RESOLUTION NO. 2008-10
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDMOND REQUESTING THE TRANSFER OF
CERTAIN COUNTY RIGHTS-OF-WAY FROM DESCHUTES COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the City Council has agreed to take jurisdiction of certain County roads
within the City limits; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to ORS 373.270(6), the City Council wishes to initiate transfer of
such jurisdiction to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDMOND, OREGON, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City hereby requests that Deschutes County surrender
jurisdiction to the City of Redmond of certain County rights-of-way described in Exhibit A
attached hereto as of 12:00 a.m., April 11, 2008.
SECTION 2: That the jurisdiction of Deschutes County over the rights-of-way described
in Section 1 hereof, and for the right-of-way improvements, construction, and repair
shall cease upon transfer of the property to the City of Redmond.
SECTION 3: This resolution shall be effective March 11, 2008.
ADOPTED by the City Council and SIGNED by the Mayor this 11th day of March, 2008.
