Project:
Community Water Feature and Courtyard
Description:
The water feature consists of water flowing from and over large boulders onto 2'
river rock in which are planted aquatic plants. The water is reclaimed below
ground and pumped back through the large boulders. The fountain will be located
in the middle of a lovely brick courtyard that features four benches in each corner
and four raised flower boxes placed at 90 degree angles at all four ends. Two
artistic misting features are located on either side of the fountain between the
benches. The benches will be sponsored for $750 each and the flower boxes for
$1500 each. The bricks that make up the courtyard are engraved with the
donator's information for $45 per brick.
Location:
Frontier Heritage Park, La Pine, Oregon
Property owner where project will be located:
City of La Pine
Project will be maintained/sustained after completion:
Maintained by La Pine Parks and Recreation
Grantee organization stakeholder:
The location of the project is within a City Park operated by La Pine Parks and
Recreation District of which La Pine Parks and Recreation Foundation is a part.
This fits into their mission as an enhancement of a Park and Rec facility.
Grantees participation:
Through offering the property for the project and through ongoing maintenance of
the water feature.
Additional stakeholders:
City of La Pine (landowner), La Pine Parks and Recreation Department
(maintenance), and RDI (Ieadaership and direction).
Why this is a compelling project:
This project enhances our community campus on which previous improvements
have been made by Cohorts I and II in providing lighting and play structure. The
community campus include our Community Center (Events) Building which has
undergone extensive improvement. The water feature provided by Cohort III will
serve the entire community, young and old alike
Project outcome statement:
Our project will enhance the overall beauty of the park and provide a gathering
place for youth, families, seniors and visitors to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It
will further enhance and define the "gathering place" of down town La Pine.
In Kind Contributions:
Little River Landscape Architects, project design, in-kind: $1500.00 (received to date)
Vic Russell Construction, excavation/boulders drilled, project, in-kind: $5000.00

Clic PARK & RECREATION
FOUNDATION
April 15, 2013
We are writing this letter in support of the La Pine Cohort 3 who is currently
participating in the Ford Institute Leadership Program.
Our reason for supporting the "Community Water Feature and Courtyard Project" is
that we feel this project benefits all of our citizens, enhances our park, and serves as
a gathering place for the community. In 2009, La Pine Cohort 2 installed a play area
nearby and we feel these two projects work together well and help us to fulfill our
mission as an organization.
"The La Pine Park and Recreation Foundation supports the ongoing operations and
special initiatives of the Lo Pine Park and Recreation District by developing funding,
securing resources, marketing the District's programs to existing or potential
constituents, and advocating for the clients we serve."
