Sponsorship funding will help support program operations at the Inn. The Presenting Sponsor level will entitle the County to acknowledgement on all event promotional materials. Additionally, the Inn would be honored if representatives from the County would join us as our VIP guests for the evening. Spotlight on Homelessness is a community partnership celebration hosted by the Bethlehem Inn to educate our community on the problems facing those experiencing homelessness. Our 2012 Spotlight event is part of a continuing effort to secure financial support from our community, allowing us to create opportunities for positive change for those less fortunate. The inaugural event in 2011 successfully provided $30,000 in revenue for the Inn; this year the revenue projection is $50,000. Bethlehem Inn Program Description: The Bethlehem Inn serves as the ONLY shelter providing emergency housing for men, women and families in Central and Eastern Oregon. As the largest emergency shelter in the region, last year the Inn provided 711 individuals including families with housing, food and support services. Another 200 individuals received food and support services, but were not residents at the Inn. The obstacles that homeless adults and families face are numerous and varied. The lack of affordable housing, educational deficiencies, life and job skill limitations, unreliable transportation and poverty are all elements contributing to the cycle of homelessness. We provide services, support, and a glimpse of what their lives can become: productive, healthy, fulfilling. Our approach is simple: We believe in the worth of every human being, and we know from experience that when people have the right tools, change can happen. Big change. That's why we provide our residents with everything they need to reclaim their dignity and rebuild their lives: nutritious meals, clothing, access to medical care, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, and housing. Within 24 hours of entering the Inn, case managers prioritize the immediate needs of each resident or family; initially addressing the basic survival needs of housing, food, safety and health. Once these needs have been addressed, a best -practices case management system is used to connect residents with appropriate partner agencies and services to provide an effective avenue to self-sufficiency. The committee began meeting in early January and continues to meet bi-weekly to prepare for this special evening. Recruitment efforts continue for Table Hosts and Event Sponsors. This event is an opportunity to educate and engage a wide spectrum of constituents in Central Oregon. Enlisting financial support from partners such as Deschutes County will assist the Inn in carrying out its mission in serving homeless men, women and families. Deschutes County is a natural partner as the presenting sponsor of this special event. The Bethlehem Inn is confident that with the support of Deschutes County and other "friends of the Inn" this event will far exceed all expectations. Grant funding of $5,000 from the County will provide shelter, food and case management for 70 residents for three days. Unlike other event sponsorships offered by non-profit organizations, the sponsorship funding for the Spotlight on Homelessness is intended to benefit the Inn's program expenses, rather than event expenses. However, the preliminary event budget projection is included in this proposal for your review. We appreciate your review and consideration of this invitation to support the mission of the Bethlehem Inn.
