The students will tour and visit historical sites, receiving information on the sites by a trained tour guide. Project Name: EF Tour — Europe 2013 Educational Tour Project Description: Funds will be used to support an educational tour to Europe, including countries such as Ireland, Great Britain, and Scotland. The tour will last for 16 days, during which the students will acquire knowledge pertaining to the history and modern-day events that happened in that country and will learn about the culture through seeing and living it first-hand. Describe the purposed project or activity: The educational tour is a tour to Europe, including countries such as Ireland, Great Britain and Scotland. The tour is for 16 days, during which the students will acquire knowledge pertaining to the history and modern day events that happened in that country. The students will learn about the culture through seeing and living it first hand. This trip can also be applied to further them in their educational future, because the knowledge they learn can be used in school, college and throughout their lives. 3. Provide a timeline for completing the proposed project or activity: We will be embarking on this trip in March, and the itinerary is as follows: Day 1:Fly overnight to Ireland Day 2-3: Arrive in Shannon, travel to Killarney Day 4: Travel to Dublin (Visit the Blarney Castle) Day 5: Tour Dublin (See the Book Of Kells at Trinity College, visit St. Patricks Cathedral) Day 6: Take a ferry from Dublin to North Wales (Visit a Welsh Castle) Day 7:Travel through Chester to Rydal Day 8: Travel to Edinburgh, Scotland (Take a walking tour of Edinburgh) Day 9: Take a guided tour of Edinburgh (Visit Edinburgh Castle) Day 10: Take an excursion to Stirling Castle and the Trossachs Day 11.Take a guided tour of York (Visit York Minister) Days 12-13: Take a tour of Stratford (Visit Shakespeare's birthplace, take a tour of Bath, Visit the Roman Baths, Visit Stonehenge) Day 14: Take a guided tour of London, followed by a walking tour of London Day 15: Tour London Day 16: Depart for home Followed by the trip, the students also will be prompted to write an essay about what they saw and learned from the trip. An essay can be submitted to you if requested. They will also be doing various other means of presentation on what they had learned. The High School students are also given the opportunity to receive High School Credits by applying the knowledge they acquired by submitting an essay. 4. Explain how the proposed project or activity will impact the community's economic health: By taking this trip, the students will get knowledge that they simply cannot learn in school. The information they receive can be put forth to improving our economy's opportunities. These students can pursue a career with the knowledge of other countries, which intertwines with our current economic situation. 5. Identify the specific communities or groups that it will benefit: Although this trip mainly benefits the people close to these students, it mostly impacts the Community Presbyterian Church, The Redmond High School students, future employers and various middle and Elementary Schools. 6. Itemize anticipated expenditures. Describe how grant funds will be used and include the source and amounts of matching funds or in-kind contributions, if any. If the grant will support an ongoing activity, explain how it will be funded in the future: The grant funds will go towards securing the core expenses of the trip (ie. Air travel, hotel, bus).
