Discretionary Grant Program
Organization: Deschutes Water Alliance (DWA)
Organization Description:. The Deschutes Water Alliance is a regional forum intended
to establish ongoing regional water management planning and coordination to address
key water issues in the Deschutes Basin. The Deschutes Water Alliance (DWA) was first
formed in 2004 through a grant from the Bureau of Reclamation. Since January of 2009,
a group of original DWA partners has been meeting to consider various options for
broadening the scope and participation in the DWA. The group proposes to expand
participation by including county government and creating an ongoing forum for
discussion about key water issues in the basin. This forum comprised primarily of local
governments will provide water education, water policy discussions and to develop an
integrated regional water management plan.

I am facilitating meetings of the Deschutes Water Alliance to develop a
Deschutes Basin Water Plan that manages water flow in the basin. This group
is made up of local governments and state and federal agencies. We are not in
position to ask the members for pocket change to cover some miscellaneous
expenses. Recently I provided a potato bar at a charge to allow the members
to sit down after the meeting and network. We planned for more lunches than
were bought so I am looking for your support to develop this cost center to
charge off small amounts not covered by other means. I will return any
remaining amount to the grant fund at the end of the year. Thank you f or
your support.
