MINUTES OF WORK SESSION
DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29,2011
Present were Commissioners Tammy Baney, Alan Unger and Anthony DeBone.
Also present were Debbie Legg and Tracy Moore, Personnel; Mark Pilliod,
County Counsel; Scott Johnson, Health Services; and Joe Sadony, Information
Technology.
Chair Baney opened the session as 1 :05 p.m.
1. Discussion of the County Administrator Recruitment Process.
At 1 :05 p.m., the Commissioners went into executive session under ORS
192.660(2)(a) -Consider the employment of a public officer, employee, staff
member or individual agent. After the conclusion of the executive session at
2:25 p.m., the meeting went to other items. At this time, only the
Commissioners and Mark Pilliod remained in the meeting.
The Board went out ofexecutive session at 2:25 p.m.
2. Other Items.
The Board will meet again in executive session on Thursday, January 5 at 10:00
a.m. for further review of applications.
The Board briefly discussed the Sisters recycling issue. Mark Pilliod suggested
that they might need more volunteers involved to accomplish what needs to be
done.

Commissioner Unger said that some members of the Sisters City Council
indicated they don't ask the County for much and want a County partnership on
this issue.
Chair Baney stated that this seems to be an ongoing conversation regarding the
depot, in regard to long-term and secondary uses, who shares the cost of
operations, and so on. She is not sure what their actual request is, but funding
probably runs out this year. They already have curbside recycling in place.
This will be discussed further at the January 5 meeting with the Council.
Being no further items discussed, the meeting adjourned at 2:35 p.m.
