THEATRE WORKS
1. INNOVATION THEATRE WORKS is the first and only professional theatre organization in
Central Oregon. We produce and present world Bass professional theatre in this community
such as one might see in Ashland, Portland or Seattle. Mission: To engage, entertain, educate
and inspire the Central Oregon community through the transformative power of the theatre
arts.
2. ITW has secured a building to serve as a permanent home for the theatre. Transforming this
former church and office space into a functioning theatre requires many things. One of the first
of those is seating for audiences. This request is for the funds to acquire 100 movable seats that
will be permanent property of the theatre. The goal is for our theatre to seat 200 people.
3. Seating will be purchased as soon as the funds become available.
4. There is an abundance of evidence that non-profit arts programming is a valuable economic
engine for any community, both for tourism and to enhance the quality of life for residents.
Non-profit arts generate in excess of $166 billion annually in the US. From a more intimate
point of view, a building that has been standing vacant is now alive with activity. The traffic to
local restaurants and businesses will increase enormously. People who had to leave the area to
see professional theatre in Portland or Seattle now have the opportunity to experience it here.
And, the work is created here, especially for our community.
5. In addition to the professional work that ITW will be able to do, we have decided to open this
building for the use of the community. The Bend Performing Arts Center will have a wide
variety of opportunities for local artists to participate. Ongoing performance programs include
musicians , a storytelling series, a comic improvisation group focusing on life in Central Oregon,
and play readings. Bend -PAC will also serve as a venue for other non profit groups to perform.
In addition to performance programming, ITW will offer professional workshops and classes for
aspiring young actors and directors and educational opportunities with the artists who come to
Bend to perform in ITW productions.
6. Our ultimate goal Is seating for 200. We are seeking funds for 100 seats at $50/each. We
have a match of 70 seats already donated and will run a match campaign for an additional
$3000 to secure the final 30 seats.
