BBBSCO is a one-to-one mentoring program; which matches professionally screened and trained volunteers with youth ages 6-15 throughout the Tri County area. The purpose of BBBSCO is to give children & families the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with volunteer mentors. Our program provides many match activities for program participates (ie. rafting, snowshoeing, camping, fishing, etc.). Many `Gigs" and "Littles" spend their time taking advantage of the Central Oregon landscape. Our leadership structure stems from being a part of the largest regional youth development provider. We are a program of J Bar J Youth Services; which provides executive leadership, accounting, grant writing and many administrative functions. BBBSCO has its own Advisory Board, Program Director and Development Director; who provide support, oversight and guide the program while working closely with 2 Advisory Boards in surrounding counties. (see attached Organizational Chart) 2.) The BIG Invitational Golf Tournament 2010 is the 8th annual Charitable Golf Tournament offered by Bend Golf & Country Club. This event will be an entertaining, yet upscale event for golfers and fans alike to raise awareness and funds to significantly help in providing financial support to ensure the future quality and growth of the program. This event will involve approximately 100+ golfers and approximately 250 people attending and supporting the event. 3.) The event is typically held in the first half of October each year. This year it will take place on Monday, October 4th at the Bend Golf and Country Club. We are in full swing of completing our task list! We presently have several Sponsors confirmed (i.e. BIGS `Bend's Indoor Garden Center", PEPSI, and the Dry Soda Company). 4.) This activity, The BIG Invitational, will recruit community support to provide financial assistance to the number one mentoring program in the nation. Many individuals, business professionals and friends of the program will rally to bring in funds that benefit BBBSCO. This event allows our community to advocate and support BBBSCO; while raising funds to sustain and expand the program. It is a great marketing tool for local businesses that choose to sponsor our event, as well as those businesses that donate in-kind food, services, and materials. We keep our dollars local!! 5.) The children & families of Deschutes County will directly benefit from this activity because it will allow our staff to match more youth with mentors. Our services are free to children between the ages of 6-15 who want and need a mentor. Most children in the program are from low-income, single -parent households. Many struggling with school and have inadequate support systems. 6.) The BIG Invitational 2010 expenditures are expected to be approx. $2000.00. (See budget attachment) Grant funds will be used as either a "BIG MAGIC" Sponsorship or FOUR(4) Hole Sponsorships, whichever you see fit.
