1. The Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB is a private not-for-profit 501 c (6)
dedicated to economic well being of our member, Redmond and the Central Oregon
community. The Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) works to provide visitor and
guest services as well as attract and bring new convention business to area and in this
case to the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center.
2. The Grant money will be used to help the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB to
cover expenses (airfare, hotel, rental car and food) for two people, to travel to Louisville,
KY and represent Central Oregon at the Good Sam Rally, July 21-24, 2010. We will
promote Central Oregon and the Deschutes County Fair and Expo as the host site for the
Good Sam Rally in July of 2011. We will hand out brochures, maps, meet with Rally
officials, rally vendors and attendees to highlighting things to see and do in the area as
well as the state. The goal is to boost the numbers who will be attending and hopefully
help convince Good Sam to sign a 3 event multi year contract.
3. The Good Sam Rally is in Louisville, KY on July 22-25 and we will be traveling on the
21' and returning on the 24.
4. The Deschutes County Fair and Expo is working to sign a 3 event multi year contract
with the Good Sam Rally group and our presences there will show good faith and a
commitment to help make their event a success in Central Oregon. The economic benefit
to the county is enormous and this event will help build a strong local and State economy.
The estimated economic impact of the Good Sam Rally is conservatively estimated at
between $8 and $10 million.
5. The greater Central Oregon region will be served by bringing in this Rally and boosting
attendance for the Redmond 2011 rally at the DCFE, as well as help to convince them to
come back 3 more times over the next 9 years. Lodging, restaurants, retail shops, area
attractions, rental car companies, service stations and other business can expect to benefit
from this event coming to Central Oregon.
