Organization: Redmond Chamber of Commerce
Organization Description: The Redmond Chamber of Commerce provides a variety of
services to residents, local businesses and governmental entities in the Redmond area.
This organization promotes the Redmond community, provides educational, referral and
networking opportunities, and seeks to improve the quality of life for all of Redmond.
Project Name: Leadership Redmond
Project Description: This grant will be used to sponsor one day of the 2010-2011
Leadership Redmond class and provide scholarships for four participants. Leadership
Redmond is a program designed to educate, enhance, develop and train future leaders to
participate in key decision-making positions on community boards and/or commissions
upon completion of this program.
Project Period: September 2010 to May 2011
Amount of Request: $1,800 ($600 sponsorship of one day, $1,200 scholarships for two
participants @ $600 each)

1. Leadership Redmond is a private not-for-profit 509 (a) (1) organization that is made up of
the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB and the Redmond Executive Association
(REA). The Board of Directors consists of 3 Chamber appointed member, 3 REA
appointed members and 3 class presidents from previous year's classes. Leadership
Redmond is designed to expose the participants to the leaders in the community and to
make them aware of what it takes to run a community.
2. The grant will be used to help fund 1, Day Sponsorship and 2, scholarship positions for
the class of 20109-2011. As a Day Sponsor, Deschutes County will be given the
opportunity to welcome the class the day we cover the topic "Government & Legislative"
scheduled for March 17, 2011 The 2 scholarships will be used to help pay the way for
two participants who would not be able to attend with out assistance. We will provide
each scholarship recipient of County funds your contact information, so they may
communicate with you throughout the program. There are three additional scholarships
provided, one from each of following, the City of Redmond, Redmond Economic
Development and The Redmond Executive Association. We also have 8 additional Day
Sponsors from various supports throughout the community.
3. The Leadership Redmond program will run from October 21, 2010 to June 16, 2011. Our
Government & Legislative day will be held on March 17, 2011 and we would hope to
meet with the commissioners on that day.
4. This program will help build a broader understanding and awareness of how Redmond
and other communities function. It will give participants exposure to the economic forces
that are at play and the need for balance and leadership in all aspects of the community.
Without qualified and competent leaders, economic development would not be possible.
5. This program is designed to educate, enhance, develop and train future leaders to
participate in key decision-making positions on community boards and/or commissions
upon completion of this program and will serve the Redmond and other Central Oregon
Communities.
